Empowering Women through Skills Training: VGD Project Implementation in Kumarkhali, Kushtia

In pursuit of women’s development and empowerment, a range of initiatives are being implemented across Bangladesh. As part of this movement, in Kumarkhali Upazila of Kushtia District, a significant milestone was achieved through the implementation of the Vulnerable Group Development (VGD) Project for the 2019–2020 cycle, supported by the Department of Women Affairs and executed by Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha. A total of 2,785 women beneficiaries received trade-based income-generating skills training through this initiative.

🔹 Enhance skills among poor and vulnerable women
🔹 Create opportunities for income-generating employment through training
🔹 Enable women to become self-reliant
🔹 Strengthen women’s dignity and position in society

✅ Sewing and Handicrafts
✅ Poultry and Goat Rearing
✅ Handicraft and Food Processing
✅ Agriculture-Based Skills Training

🌟 Impact and Outcomes

Through this training initiative, beneficiaries have acquired essential skills and are now engaged in their own income-generating activities. Many of them are now contributing financially to their families, and a number have emerged as small-scale entrepreneurs. This program stands as a shining example of effective women’s empowerment.
