Tobacco Control Programs
Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha has been an associate member of the anti-tobacco allaince since 2000. It has been conducting various activities in Meherpur Sadar Upazila of Meherpur District since 2005 to enforce the Tobacco Control Act. To be more active in enforcing the Tobacco Control Act, various activities have been carried out in the past in collaboration with the WBB Trust. The report of these activities is given in detail below.
Tobacco Control Act Monitoring:
Monitoring is an important issue for the implementation of tobacco control laws. An observational survey was first conducted by the Subah SamajikUnnayanSangstha as part of the implementation of the Tobacco Control Act. All these activities identify the ways in which tobacco control laws are being violated. Discussions were held with the concerned on the implementation of the Tobacco Control Act. Subsequently, information related to tobacco control violations was provided to the administration, media and concerned organizations. There has been a positive response from all quarters for the implementation of this law.
The stickers were distributed in the name of Subah in collaboration with the WBB Trust to raise awareness about tobacco control laws. Stickers given by WBB Trust affixed in Meherpur District Council, Office of the Superintendent of Police, Office of Bus Owners Association, Office of Motor Workers Union, Meherpur Passenger Camp, Wapda Passenger Camp, MeherpurSadarUpazila Parishad, Meherpur Press Club, Meherpur Reporters Unity Office, C Hospital, MeherpurSadarUpazila Health and P.P. Office, District Lawyers Association Office, MeherpurSadar Thana, Colleges etc.
