Awareness Rally and Discussion Meeting Held in Gangni to Prevent Eve-Teasing

On October 30, 2010, an awareness rally and discussion meeting was held in Gangni Upazila to prevent eve-teasing, in collaboration with Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha. The main goal of the event was to raise public awareness about the negative impacts of eve-teasing and to promote effective measures to prevent such offenses in society.

Key Activities of the Program:

✅ Awareness Rally:
A large number of people including students, teachers, parents, and community members participated in the rally, which marched through the main roads of Gangni Upazila. Banners, festoons, and slogans were used to spread anti-eve-teasing messages to the public.

✅ Discussion Meeting:
Following the rally, a discussion session was organized where the social, psychological, and legal consequences of eve-teasing were discussed. Representatives from the Bangladesh National Woman Lawyers’ Association (BNWLA), Dhaka provided valuable insights and guidelines on combating the issue.

✅ Legal Awareness:
Participants were informed about existing laws related to eve-teasing, the penalties associated with such acts, and the procedures for lodging complaints. This helped to empower individuals with the knowledge to take necessary action when needed.

This initiative had a positive impact on the local community by encouraging collective action against eve-teasing. It also contributed toward building a safer and more respectful environment for women and girls in the area.
