Campaign for the Implementation of Tobacco Control Law and Protection of Non-Smokers’ Rights

A public awareness leaflet campaign titled “Implementation of the Tobacco Control Act (2005) and Protection of Non-Smokers’ Rights” was successfully organized by Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha in collaboration with the Bangladesh Anti-Tobacco Alliance.

🎯 Main Objectives of the Campaign:

 

✅ Ensure a smoke-free environment in public places and public transportation
✅ Protect the rights of non-smokers and raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco
✅ Promote public awareness on the implementation of the Tobacco Control Law

📍 Campaign Inauguration Details:

 

  • Location: Meherpur Sadar Upazila Premises
  • Inaugurated by: Mr. Shah Momin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), Meherpur Sadar
  • Key Activities:
    1. Leaflet distribution
    2. Public education about the Tobacco Control Act
    3. Highlighting the importance of smoke-free public spaces and transport

✅ Creation of smoke-free environments in public areas and vehicles
✅ Increased public awareness about the dangers of tobacco use
✅ Protection of non-smokers’ rights and promotion of a healthier, tobacco-free society

 

This initiative is a vital step toward enforcing tobacco laws and building a safer, cleaner environment for all—especially for non-smokers whose rights to clean air must be respected.
