Preparatory Meeting Held in Meherpur Ahead of International Literacy Day 2012

Meherpur News, September 3, 2012, In anticipation of the upcoming International Literacy Day on September 8, a preparatory meeting was held on Monday morning at the conference room of the Meherpur Deputy Commissioner’s Office.

 

The meeting was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Hossain Ali Khandaker, with participation from a wide range of government officials, NGO representatives, and educators. Among the speakers were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Hemayet Hossain, Nazneen Sultana, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Meherpur Sadar; Nazmun Nahar, UNO of Mujibnagar; and Mosharraf Hossain, Executive Director of Palashipara Samaj Kalyan Samiti.

 

Other notable attendees included Faruk Hossain, Area Manager of Save the Children; Dr. Kishore Kumar Kundu, Livestock Officer of Meherpur; Moin-ul-Alam, Executive Director of Subah Samajik Unnayan Sangstha; and several respected educators such as Sekendar Ali of Meherpur Government High School, Abul Hashem of BM Model Primary School, Mojibur Rahman of Genius Lab School & College, Jasmine Shahanaz of Shaheed Captain Drishti Nandan Government Primary School, and Hasina Khatun of Natun Para Government Primary School.

 

The speakers emphasized the importance of raising awareness about literacy among the general public and shared their views on how to make the observance of International Literacy Day a success in the district.
